Preservation Durham Staff

Julianne Patterson, Executive Director

Julianne is driven by the belief that historic preservation is a collective responsibility and an integral part of a just and sustainable Durham. Her vision for Preservation Durham extends beyond the bricks and mortar, recognizing that the preservation of our history is inseparable from the well-being of our community.


Julianne graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in Art History and Humanities and earned a MS in Historic Preservation from the Clemson/College of Charleston Graduate Program in Historic Preservation. Previously, she worked at the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation in Seattle, WA, and Preservation North Carolina.

Julia Lasure, Membership & Programs Coordinator

Julia is dedicated to making history an open and accessible resource for everyone. Through her studies, she has understood the power local history has in empowering communities and individuals alike. She is committed to ensuring that Durham's history is communicated and shared throughout the community through the many programs hosted by Preservation Durham.


Julia graduated from Wingate University with a BA in History. She is currently in the Public History masters program at North Carolina State University. She has worked with multiple communities since her secondary education began, to protect their historic sites and share their histories.
