Preservation Durham’s annual home tour is an important part of Preservation Durham’s mission — to protect Durham’s historic assets through action, advocacy, and education. The tour enables Preservation Durham to showcase homes that have been lovingly maintained or rehabilitated, with the hope of inspiring all of Durham’s residents to place a high value on stewardship of our shared architectural heritage and the story it can tell. Sara Lachenman, owner and principal designer at Four Over One Design, will provide an indepth understanding of the tudor revival style of architecture and tudor revival styled homes in Durham, NC.
Sara earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College in Studio Art. She then attended graduate school at UNC-Greensboro and received a MS in Interior Architecture with a concentration in Historic Preservation – setting herself at the intersection of preservation and design. She accepted a position at Trinity Design/Build as the Director of Design and Preservation completing 17 renovations, additions, and remodels. After three years Sara founded her own company and named it 4/1 Design. Sara particularly appreciates being able to customize her services to what a client really needs for a given project.
