This house, with its wrap-around porch, occupies a large corner lot convenient to Downtown and the Durham Freeway. Built around 1905, the house is a 2-story gable-and-wing type house with weatherboard, 2-over-2 sash windows and a bay window in the front gable. The wrap-around porch has Doric columns. The scalloped drip course is an addition. The house is unusual because the entrance is located in the front wing. The stair is also located in the front-wing room. A one-story kitchen ell is on the south side.
The house is in need of extensive renovation.
This house is a contributing property in the East Durham Historic District, making it eligible for Historic Rehabilitation Tax credits. In North Carolina both state and federal income tax credits are available for the certified rehabilitation of historic structures.
