January 16, 2014
802 W. Main Street
Who doesn’t love beer? No one! We’re excited to host our first Historic Happy Hour of the brand-new Triangle Pint and Plate, the latest venture from Triangle Brewery. Come escape the cold and gloom of January and have a pint with us.
December 12, 2013: 5:30-7:30, Nasher Museum of Art, 2001 Campus Drive
Join us at the world-famous Nasher Museum of Art for this unique Historic Happy Hour event. We’ll enjoy drinks before taking a private tour of the Doris Duke’s Shangri-La exhibit. The exhibit closes at the end of December, so you definitely won’t want to miss this event.
September 19, 2013: 5:30-7:30, Straw Valley Cafe, 5420 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd.
You’ll want to make sure you don’t miss this HHH! We’re joint hosting it with NC Modernist Houses (formerly Triangle Modernist Houses) at Straw Valley, the area’s coolest coffee shop/bar. You’d never guess that this hidden oasis sits right off of 15-501. Come enjoy the beautiful September weather in the spacious courtyards, or wander around the property and check out the modernist architecture and furniture.
June 20, 2013: 5:00-7:00, Bar Lusconi, 117-B E. Main St.
Bar Lusconi is so cool, they don’t even have a logo. Or a sign. Or decorations. They don’t need any of that stuff, though- the drink menu is that good. Once you enter the unmarked bar (look for the butcher paper in the windows!), you’ll find yourself in a beautifully unfinished historic room. We love the cozy atmosphere, and getting to see the guts of such a cool building. Make sure to admire the beautiful ceiling!
April 18, 2013: 6:00-8:00 at Alley Twenty Six, 320 E. Chapel Hill St. – Alley Twenty Six is the new offering from Shannon Healy, formerly of Crooks Corner. Located in a historic building across the street from the post office in downtown Durham, it features a menu of carefully curated cocktails that will delight and surprise you. There’s also a small offering of charcuterie and cheese.
February 21, 2013: 5:00-7:00 at Mateo Bar de Tapas, 109 W Chapel Hill St – Mateo is the first solo venture from chef Matthew Kelly of Vin Rouge; housed in the old Book Exchange building in downtown Durham, it features a menu that blends the flavors of Spain with beloved ingredients and dishes of the South. Join us to see another piece of Durham’s history revitalized!
